At times, Sydney really does take my breath away. From water views in Bondi to City views in Potts Point, it was a week of appreciating Sydney in all its glory and feeling a little more like a ‘Visit Sydney’ blogger than a beauty blogger. I discovered how to do good for my face and more importantly, how to do good in the world – walking away from the week feeling hopeful for the beauty industry (and of course my pores).
Wednesday 11th March, 2015 – Simple Micellar Cleansing Water launch
Bondi’s Icebergs has to be one of the most spectacular locations in Sydney, if not Australia. Overlooking the most breathtaking view of crashing waves and blue sky, you feel like you’re at the edge of the Earth and despite the numerous times you glance over the balcony, you can never take it all in. Welcomed with coconuts, coffees and juices, the spread was absolutely divine, with fruit platters and granola glasses before pastries and brioche egg and prosciutto burgers.
After mingling and saying ‘how beautiful is this view!’ and ‘how delicious is this?!’ one too many times, we were invited to sit before make-up artist Craig Beaglehole. Demonstrating Simple’s new Micellar Cleansing Water on a model that was quite literally sitting through my worst nightmare (having her makeup removed in front of a room of beauty media) Craig explained how he’s been using micellar water for years backstage, as it doesn’t require water to wash off, doesn’t leave any residue and a small amount can go a very, very long way.
Enriched with triple-purified water, Simple Micellar Cleansing Water removes makeup and impurities to reveal cleansed and hydrated skin, without the need to splash a drop of water. Fine for us sensitive skin complainers, it’s a perfect product to use on the go and even just for touch-ups after work before dinner. It’s already made it’s way into my bathroom cabinet and it will surely do the same in yours after you run into Priceline and grab yourself a bottle.
Speaking of Priceline, Simple also announced the launch of their campaign in conjunction with Priceline Pharmacy to spread Simple’s Kindness Message and to support and raise awareness for the Priceline Pharmacy Sisterhood Foundation. The #SimpleActs Campaign invites us all to engage in acts of kindness (to yourself and others) and share them over social media with the hashtag #SimpleActs. The most creative will be placed in the draw to win a weekend spa retreat with their best friend – which is so kind of Simple! So is the fact that they coincided the launch of the #SimpleActs Campaign with the launch of the Simple Micellar Cleansing Water, as $1 raised from every bottle of Simple Micellar Cleansing Water sold in Priceline Pharmacy will be donated to the Priceline Pharmacy Sisterhood Foundation that supports women in need and since 2010 has raised over $1,000,000. Kindness has reached a whole new level, and we can all be apart of it!
Thursday 12th March 2015 – Benefit BOLD IS BEAUTIFUL launch
I’ve said this many times before, yet just in case my message hasn’t got across as yet, Benefit nail packaging like no other beauty brand I’ve ever seen. It’s so funny, cute and sarcastic that the message that ‘laughter is the best cosmetic’ really gets through when you see what they come up with next. And it’s not just Benefit’s packaging that I’m obsessed with – the packaging merely cases some of the best products that should be staples in your makeup bag, like They’re Real Mascara and benetint. It should also come as no surprise that Benefit’s launch of the BOLD IS BEAUTIFUL Project was as gorgeous, pretty and fun as everything they do.
Looking over a beautiful City view from The Butler in Potts Point, beauty media were welcomed with pink drinks and mouth-watering canapes. Hearing from Australia and New Zealand general manager Justin Fullerton and Benefit Cosmetics global beauty authority Annie Ford Danielson, we heard that Benefit isn’t just about instilling confidence through cosmetics, yet also about giving back, as to look good is to feel good and therefore, to do good! With a focus on empowering women and girls to have big dreams and bold moves, Benefit are going beyond the beauty counter to raise money for local charities chosen by the given markets, dedicated to fostering women’s education and mentorship, access to wellness and financial stability.
In an effort to begin by raising funds, Benefit will be donating $10 from every Brow Wax Service held at Benefit Brow bars in Myer nationally during the month of May, split evenly between the three chosen charities in the Australian market, Look Good Feel Better, Fitted for Work and SISTER2sister. Hearing from each individual charity and the work they do was truly inspiring, making the month of May the easiest way for YOU to give to these amazing causes and still walking away with Benefit brows. It is an honour to be able to spread the word of such a wonderful initiative and a pleasure to work with a beauty brand with a conscience. Not that there was any excuse to get getting around with bad brows before, yet getting down to Myer in May for a brow service just got much more important!
